Armitage Shanks One of the Largest Manufacturers of Ceramic and Metal Sanitaryware in the UK. Whenever someone mentions Armitage Shanks the next thought is quality British bathrooms. This is because of our long standing service of providing the ceramic sanitarywear found in every bathroom throughout the UK. Our roots can be traced back to and beyond the very first ceramic sanitarywear of 1850 through to 1817 when Thomas Bond founded The Armitage "sanitary pottery manufacture" in Armitage, Staffordshire. In 1869 Armitage merged with Shanks Holdings Limited, a competing "sanitary engineering company" established at Barrhead near Glasgow, Scotland in 1878, producing the famous brand name Armitage Shanks.
